In partnership with the Dubai Future Foundation, Amazon has launched a pilot of its new gig program, which allows individuals and small business owners to earn extra income through Amazon’s On-Foot Delivery Service within the “Sandbox Dubai” initiative.
The VP of Amazon in the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, Ronaldo Mouchawar, added on his LinkedIn profile that this pilot program allows individuals and small business owners to earn a flexible income by delivering Amazon packages on foot across Dubai’s most vibrant neighborhoods, and that they remain committed to unlocking transformative solutions that drive sustainable economic growth and advance Dubai’s D33 agenda.
This follows an agreement between Amazon and the Dubai Future Foundation to join the Sandbox Dubai initiative within the Gig Economy sector. The initiative’s goal is to create a supportive legal and business environment for new and innovative economic models.
The program was introduced as a pilot by Amazon UAE to give people a chance to earn additional income through on-foot delivery services, especially in busy, high-density areas of Dubai. This makes it easier for customers to access the products they need and helps businesses deliver more efficiently.
Sandbox Dubai is one of the main projects under Dubai’s Economic Agenda, which aims to double the city’s economy within the next ten years and strengthen its standing as one of the world’s leading economic hubs.
The Sandbox Dubai platform creates more opportunities for innovators to test and grow their business models, products, and services in a real but secure setting. It also provides expert guidance and flexible regulatory support to help overcome challenges and speed up market entry.
In addition, it supports Dubai’s role as a global center for innovation by encouraging real-world testing that gives regulators accurate data. This helps in shaping evidence-based policies that promote sustainable and forward-looking economic growth.
