WHOOP, the human performance and health wearable company, has announced a partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to advance clinical research and preventive healthcare through a 24-month research programme. Unveiled at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, the initiative will investigate how continuous health monitoring and personalised coaching can improve cardiometabolic health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
The partnership marks a new chapter in WHOOP’s expansion in the UAE, where its journey began in 2016 through a collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai to support the health and wellness of the Expo team using WHOOP technology. The latest agreement with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi reflects a broader focus on applying wearable technology and personalised health insights to preventive healthcare and clinical research.
Will Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WHOOP, said the UAE’s ambition and leadership vision have impressed him, particularly its willingness to embrace new approaches to addressing challenges. He also expressed appreciation for H.E. Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori and the Department of Health team for their collaboration.
Ahmed added that the UAE has become one of WHOOP’s fastest-growing markets, while the company has expanded its presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by 15 times over the past three years. WHOOP plans to continue investing in the UAE and the wider region as it pursues its global growth strategy.
Founded to help people better understand and improve their health and performance, WHOOP provides wearable technology and personalised insights designed to support recovery, sleep, strain and overall wellbeing. The company’s stated ambition is to add one billion healthy years to humanity, with partnerships such as its agreement with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi intended to contribute to that goal.
